Clinical Research Project Highlights
The UCI Urology department regularly conducts outreach events to allow students to experience the world of medicine from an insider perspective. This includes but is not limited to the usage of the novel Da Vinci laparoscopic robot, lessons in how to suture and knot tie, as well as lectures on kidney stones, kidney cancers, and treatment methodology.
UCI Urology has developed a novel virtual reality (VR) methodology for both surgeons and patients to review kidney anatomy and disease states prior to surgical intervention.
Unlike most other organs, the kidneys are not typically biopsied when there is a suspicion of cancerous disease. Here at the University of California, Irvine, we seek to innovate the approach to renal masses, renal tumors and respective treatment.
